Gambling software developer’s office raided, 40 arrested


PETALING JAYA: A software development company suspected of creating online gaming applications has been raided here.

Deemed to be the first ever raid on a gambling software developer in Selangor, police arrested 40 suspects, including the company operator, a man in his 40s.

The company is said to have created gaming apps that were sold to customers in a neighboring country.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said a police team raided the office around 6:30 p.m. Friday (October 2).

“We arrested 40 people who worked there, between the ages of 20 and 30.

“The 40 included 29 men and 11 women,” he told reporters.

He said investigations revealed the company had been operating for two years and had just moved into the office building alongside Jalan Professor Khoo Kay Kim here about a month ago.

“Further investigations revealed that the company had created and maintained gaming applications for users in a neighboring country.

“The operator of the company, a 40-year-old man, was among those arrested during the raid,” he said, adding that the case would be investigated under the law. 4 (1) (g) on ​​joint gambling dens and the Computer Crime Act. .

He said investigations revealed the company was making profits of around US $ 40,000 (RM 166,580).
